Hi....I am thinking about purchasing a "Whitehall" Bari sax....it is stated that it is "made by Yanigasawa" and from what I can tell, it looks exactly like a Yani, but I am not sure. The sax is used and is maybe from the late 80's-early to middle 90's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could certainly be a Yani - they did stencil some Whitehalls. The 80's-90's gives me some cause for concern though. Do you have a serial number that could be checked against a published serial number chart? It could be older than described, but maybe not.

The seller did'nt ist a serial #, but he did say this :

WHITEHALL BARITONE SAXOPHONE WITH LOW "A"--Recently overhauled low A Baritone Saxophone made by Yanagisawa and labeled Whitehall is up for auction. There are NO major dings in the instrument. The lacquer is worn and some scratches exit but the pads have been replaced with black Saxgourmet Kangaroo pads with gold plated Noyek resonators and a new Protec case is included.

the ebay # is 290063168077

Thanks for your help

Sure sounds worth it to me; if it's a Yani stencil and if it has all that work done by Saxgourmet, it's definitely worth it!
