I went on a little drive to the Big Easy on Saturday. I spent about half an hour there, touring the damage. I went to the worst hit areas(Ninth Ward, Metarie(suburb of N.O.), etc. Naturally, the French Quarter was fine(it's 6 feet above sea level). But what I saw in other places was absolutely shocking.
In the Ninth Ward, there are watermarks up to the(and over) the roofs of some houses! I could see holes in the roof that people had cut to escape the rapidly rising waters. Many of the homes that I passed by will probably just be demolished. In some cases there were just slabs there, and the house was no where to be found.
Probably all of the many houses I saw will be(or already are) condemned. It's very sad, and it will be a while before we can recover, but we will prevail, and Louisiana(and the whole Gulf Coast are affected by Katrina) will be better than ever.
I pray for the best,
David

| I know some people who live in NO. (friends and family) Luckily, they all escaped before the hurricane hit New Orleans. The damage their must be amazing. I've been praying for the victims of Katrina after the hurricane hit NO, and luckily they got help soon enough to save the people there. I have been watching the news a few weeks ago and some amateur photographer was taking some photos of the stadium. There was 2 dead bodies on the floor which was beat up and killed. The picture of the washroom was seriously disgusting, you know what i mean. The 3rd pic was a pic of the kitchen, similiar to the washroom, but a little cleaner. |
