Alto to bari: HELP!

y badn Direcotr recently told me she thinks I'm good enough to play in a sax quartet with her and 2 graduated students. Seeing that I'm a freshman, and we've got 2 senior saxes, that's a BIG compliment! Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Here's the catch. I've got to play bari, and I've never played oine before. How's it different?

It just requires a lot more diaphram and air support than alto. Especially down low...coolest thing ever though is hitting your first low C...then if you have the low A feature that's even cooler Mr. Green

Intonation wise, bari is actually easier than alto IMO. Fingerings are the same (of course), mouthpiece and reed is a little bigger (obviously) and other than that, that's about it. Don't worry, if you love the bari, the bari will love you Very Happy Cool

The embrochure is a little looser as well, and of course your ands are in a different position. Also, Because of the weight of the horn, you will want to slouch when sitting, so you must consciously keep your back straight and posture good in order to get full use of your lungs- you will need them.
