Any ideas on interesting books for third year student?

I have a child who has been studying saxophone privately with me once a week ffor an hour, for the past three years. I'm looking for a musicbook to get him to buy.Something with interesting pieces.
Pieces about 3 lines to half a page in length. And something that won't be too taxing.
Basically, just something interesting for this kid to work on. He's not practicing The method book stuff is pretty dry. I need something else for him...

I'm thinking of maybe Rubanks, but that's probably a little borig for the kid. I need something that will really get this kid inspired to practice.

Any suggestions?

Why not trying asking what HE wants to play, jazz music, improvising, bebop scales up and down. Make sure he ENJOYS playing the songs you give him.

But ASR, my student isn't very interested in playing at all. I need something that will inspire him to pick up his sax and start playing more. I'll be sure and try some of the things suggested.

Thanks guys,

Doesn't like playing the horn

well, that's much more different. At home is he forced by his parents to go practice or does he grab the horn once he gets his chance? I still have this notice from the band teacher a yr ago and it says
What parents should doDon't use practice as punishment
Have a DAILY routine for practice
stay around when child is practicing
don't give negative comments
encourage your child

Good luck in encouraging him to practice

Why not get some sax duet pieces. U can always play with him. Plus u might get some fun out of it.
