common repair problems

what r some common repair problems that you have with your sax/? is it common for a pad to not open, like mine is sticking?
JPSaxMan

On older saxes the G#, D#, and C# keys tend to stick more because they remain closed. I'm starting to lose the new pad sound in my LaVoix Crying or Very sad...kind of sad. Especially up in the F, F# palm/trigger keys because a lot of saliva builds up there and when not opened often I get a nice lil *sound pad makes when sealed shut* when I activate it.

Get some gig dust, Charlie A's, Selmer, etc...even baking soda will work just keep in mind once the b.s. starts to go away the sticky pad will come back Cool

As JPSaxMan said, Charlie A's gigdust and crud patch work well for sticking keys. Sticking keys is not only a problem for vintager horns, but modern saxophones as well.

Gid Dust?

Is there a build up from the dust? I have heard using lighter fluid on new pads reduces stick problems also, whats your take on that?

The lgither fluid theor can be dangerous, as the fumes can travel through your sax, so let it dry after applying. Also, I've heard that it can be corrosive to some typs of pads. So just be careful.
