Ear Protection

I heard a long while back that the fact that musicians are exposed to so much noise all the time is detrimental to our aural health.

A few weeks ago, I about the ear protection that is suppose to be something that is being used by many musicians nowadays.

It's a custom fitted ear plug with rings that can be changed to vary the amount of noise that is filtered out. This one filters out 15 decibels of sound and it still allows you to hear your instrument.

I'm wondering if anyone is using ear protection or has had experience with these things. I've been playing on my school's tenor for the past couple of days and I'm pretty loud, so I am seriously thinking of investing in a set of these plugs but would still like the opinions of people who have used them.

Thanks,
David

My neighbor who does jazz piano once in a while wears a headset during the whole thing. I think it's ridiculous and rude, and quite honestly I don't think you could possibly blend with an ensemble wearing a headset. Shocked Confused??:
