Favorite ReedsWhat is your favorite Alto Saxophone Reed? I've been playing on Fredrick Holme reeds which are produced by rico, and I want to look for some better quality reeds.

For me.. Vandoren Traditionals all the way. Some people think they're inconsistent, but I just dig 'em.

My favorite alto sax reeds are completely different from my favorite tenor and clarinet.
Alto- LaVoz medium
Tenor- Vandoren ZZ 3's
Clarinet- Vandoren blue box 3's

Sforzando,
I think you mean Fredrick Hemke?
I play on ZZ 3's for alto and ZZ 3's on tenor for jazz as well as blue box Vandoren 3's on tenor for classical.

Uh oh, this might cause me to try desperately again to convince everyone here that Ricos are the best reeds out there, but I've decided to stop that, and I'm just going to say, try different reed brands and see which one YOU like the best, although y'all know me, I'm a die-hard Rico fanatic.

Soprano: Vandoren Java's
Alto: Marching Reed: Peter Ponzol
Concert Reed :Alexandar Superial D.C.
Tenor: Same as alto
Ponzol's and Superial's are deffinentally crazy awesome

When I was a beginner I used the typical super-cheap Ricos...no idea how I could stand them in retrospect.
I use normal Vandorens for nonjazz stuff.
For jazz I used to use Rico Select/Jazz, but eventually I think they started making them worse. Nowadays I use Hemke.
