OK, jazz rock got my vote!
I like some smooth jazz (actually thought of a song while I was in the shower, sorry if that sounds weird ) but I really dig some of Candy Dulfer's stuff, maybe some it's more jazz fusion than anything, but ya can get a crowd wild over that stuff. And as Jim once said, he has lots of fun playing funk because when EVERYBODY in the bar including the band is dancing on top of tables you know you're having fun! And that's the point, ain't it?

Cool is smooth jazz, it's like the kind of music that you hear on the Weather Channel.

Cool isn't smooth jazz, man... Get your facts straight. Cool is what Miles invented as a response to bebop... Instead of insanely fast virtuostic beboppy lines, you have fewer, well placed notes. "Cool" refers to: | Quote: | | understated, stoic, refined, in control—cool like ice! |

I think he did most of that "Cool" jazz with John Coltrane. Although I think both of them kinda went crazy in their solos anyway . I'm sorry, I've come to the conclusion that John Coltrane is just not my cup of tea. I tip my hat to him for making himself famous, but his music IMO is no better than Rollins or Gordon or even Sanborn. I mean his solos all sound the same to me. I listened to Four, Bye Bye Blackbird, and Tenor Madness...all his solos sounded the same (nearly)...kind of like what'd you say about Kenny G after a while...he sounds the same. We won't go there go
