Hello everybody from Spain!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello folks; just let me introduce myself.

My name's bryan, I'm 18 and I've been playing electric guitar for a few years, but now I would like to know if I could be able to play sax, you know...., most of people think ..hummm that this kind of instrument (sax, or trumpet, or even clarinet ) are made only for people who have been born with a special blest of music ( I don't know if u can understand me very well ), something like, If you weren't born with that special thing to music you won't be able to play sax, or you will never undersatnd real music, you will never play in a orquestra or something...u know waht I mean.

So guys, the cuestion is Do u think That I ( a boy who simply loves good music and different styles, but I weren't born with that special thing to music) can start looking for a sax, and looking for some music information related to sax ? is it posible Embarassed ? or is it so so difficult?

Thank u very much and sorry for my poor english hahaha Mr. Green

Hola Brian! ¿Como esta usted senor? Don't get too technical with your answer, I only know basic Spanish...even after three years of learning the language, lol.

What you said about someone having to have a special talent to play sax...I guess you could be right but to be honest I think ANYONE can learn it if they try. Just put your mind to it, and you can do it! Smile

If you need some help with purchasing a horn, just holler and we'll be glad to help (in a separate thread of course). Good luck!

Buenas noches, hasta luego!

Hola, Bryan

You are way ahead of the game if you have "passion" for learning the instrument, my friend. If you love the sound and strive to learn how to make that pleasing sound from the instrument, you can go a long way.

The "natural" musical ability you mention is in you already. You LOVE music, that is in your heart, it is in your soul. If you want it bad enough and are willing to practice and listen well to yourself and to others, you can do it.

I would also explore the idea of taking a class at a local college that has a music program, I would also suggest perhaps taking a few lessons from a saxophone expert, not just a band teacher that knows some about most band instruments. You'll learn things that will really help you understand the saxophone IF you find a sax "mentor" that can watch and hear you play from the start, and work out any issues you might have.

Good luck to you and welcome to the wonderful, sultry world of the saxophone!

Ava
