Hola - SeattleHola,
Been playing since I was 12 (more than 20 yrs ago). Playing off and on for the last 5 yrs. Just trying to chat with fellow sax players and swap ideas and stories.

Welcome to the forum! I haven't looked up your bio yet, but what horns do you play?

Currently have a mismatch of horns:
1929 Conn Alto - Claude Lackey 5*
Olds Superstar Alto - Dukoff 6
Monique Tenor - Dukoff 7
Vito Tenor (backup horn)
LA Sax Soprano - Bari 5
I'm currently in the market for a new tenor. Can't decide between a vintage horn or a new one. It'll take some reading and alot of test drives.

Welcome!Love the old horns. Do you have any pics of your old Conn alto? Is it the satin silver plate? I have an unrestored 1928 Buescher alto, can't wait to get that fixed up, hopefully in a couple of months!

Yes satin silver with the gold wash inside the bell. Also has the funny G# trill key and the "fine tune" neck. I'll get some pick up over the weekend.

Nifty. Does that date it to a New Wonder model? I tried to win one of those on Ebay, but lost by $5
My old Buescher is the same finish type, but obviously has no tuner neck. My tenor is a Conn 16M-- an old one made in the USA-- which I love, and I have my first sax, a 1986 Yamaha YAS-23 alto, which I will probably march with. But I might just have to bring the old Buescher to practice sometime, to get some reactions!!!
Looking forward to the pics!

Yes it is a Chu Berry. Serial 166,XXX. I have the original case, mouthpiece and letter from the Conn factory with it's born date. Quite a little find for $50.

Krickey---- $50 ----- wow, what a deal. That's mind boggling. And I thought $300 for my old Buescher was good, sniffle. Have you tried any tenors yet? Any ideas on what you'll get?

$50 from a pawn shop, but you should have seen the horn. No pads, it was completely black with tarnish. I did most of the clean up work myself, but it still needs to get overhauled by a good sax man. Hopefully this summer.
I did try a 10M tenor a few years back. Great horn. Beautiful sound. I just didn't have the cash at the moment. I've been thinking it might be nice to have a matching pair of Chu's. (ha that sounds funny) I'll see what I can get.
