Improv in classical music?Has anyone ever heard of an improvised sax solo in classical music?

I think you get shot if you do that

No no, you dont get shot for that. Quite a few newer pieces call for improvised cadenzas. For instance, the third movement of Yoshimatsu's Fuzzy Bird Sonata calls for an improvised cadenza. I have performed it many times, and it always goes over well with audiences.

I'll agree with Steve on this one, though it is different from a jazz solo. There are different rules, and you can't go totally crazy, but yes, it's been done.

Like Steve and Bariman said, it has been done before, and there are rules you have to follow, unlike improv in jazz. but you can kind of consider it a jazz solo played in a classical way, if that makes any sense.
