MicrophoneDoes any one know of a good, affordable microphone for beginner recorders. Would I need software to record the music on my computer?

I just went ahead and ordered the Nady SP1 with microphone and stand, because of the GREAT price ($24.99 USD), and people say it has great quality. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

This is FANTASTIC! You can't get any better mic for a cheap price! This WAY beat out my expectations, and I thought they were high. Unless you need a proffesional Studio mic, get this one!

Used mics are usually pretty cheap, with little or no loss in quality (if it was good enough for the guys in the 60s, it's good enough for me) - a Shure SM57 is pretty cheap new, though.
What's your operating system? There are lots of free recording softwares available for most. If you have Windows, please be specific with the version, just "Windows" will not be enough.

I have Windows XP, and I record with an open source software called "Audacity".

Same here, I use Audacity to manage my recording clips.
