brightness comparison... Berg larsen vs GuardalaIn the distant past I had a berg larsen 115/0 scoopbill for my tenor, which- as occassionally happens- got stolen, together with my horn (and my car, for that matter!). Now I'm in the mood for some mouthpiece experimenting- What I'm trying to remember is how bright is a /0 facing berg? I remember it being pretty wild. Specifically I've been testing out a Guardala Superking and a Guardala Studio, while trying to rememeber how they compare with my much loved old Berg (where is it now!!?)... does anyone have any direct experience of comparing these types of mouthpiece... the bottom line is that I could order direct from Berg but obviously not do direct testswithout buying the thing... Anyone any thoughts on this?
here's a wierd, but useful, discovery. With the Guardala superking- a very wild, screaming sort of mouthpiece (ideal for Jr walker, king curtis impressions.. Woo Hoo!) it's possible to cleanly overblow most of the upper octave- IE- everything between F and A will overblow twice- giving a pretty good instant altissimo effect! Never come across the ability to do that before..
