Selmer Mouthpiece ComparisonHullo, I`m lookind at a Selmer D hard rubber tenor mouthpiece. Currently I have been using a Yamaha 4C. Could anyone tell me how they compare one with the other ? I mean in in brightness/darkness sound, classical or jazzy etc. Thanks

What kind of Selmer HR? Soloist? S80?

It says Selmer D, made in France, and what looks like S 80. Thanks JP for your reply.

You'll most likely get a "warmer" sound out of a Selmer hr piece than that of a Caravan or Morgan piece. It's good for French/American school classical playing. Definitely NOT for jazz unless you want to sound like a stuffed sock...

Thanks JP for info. What`s this Caravan, Morgan thing? Are they part of Selmer? I really want the darkest/softest/mellowest/non jazzy MPC I can get. Perhapps Vandoren and their T25?

You'll want to stay away from Selmer I'm sure. It's just that their tone is rather lively and definitely not dark.
