Drum playing Sax players

Any sax players out there that play drums? I have been learning drums for the last six months in order to improve in this area, and am interested in sharing ideas. What method/books do you use, are there particular exercises/techniques that would benefit in particular sax players? One of the most interesting books I am working on at the moment is called "New Breed" by Gary Chester. Its a very creative book that helps to develop total independence of the hands and legs. Even in this short time it has improved a great deal my sense and awareness of timing during improvisation. I am keen to continue this work and hope to find like minded saxophonists to share this with.

Just copy Buddy Rich until you're up to his level. :p

Your suggestion is correct, and I am aware of the benefits of listening to, and learning from great musicians. The answers to many of our musical questions are after all, often only as far away as our favourite CD's. However, I was looking for a more theoretical discussion into the benefits of rhythmic study and its relationship with jazz improvisation. I find that traditional jazz study focuses too much on the harmonic element of improvisation, which can lead to deficiencies in other areas. Although it is good to play "nice notes", it doesn't count for much if one plays out of time.
