Sax in san antonioHey, my name is Sam and I am a senior at Taft High in San Antonio, TX. I've been playing tenor sax in concert band since 6th grade, and jazz tenor since 7th. I am now the top jazz tenor in our Jazz band here at the high school. I own a 1985 Yamaha student tenor (generation 21), and a 2004 Cannonball Big Bell tenor. I play on a c* for concert, otto link gold mouthpiece for jazz, and Vandoren V16 reeds for both. Feel free to drop me a line to talk about absolutely anything!

Hey Sam!
It feels good to be lead tenor, doesn't it? All the other saxes in the jazz band at my HS are lame, no soul whatsoever, maybe some of the younger players will have a lil enthusiasm, but other than that, psshah.
But welcome to The Forum of the Saxes!

our sax section is just odd. We have 2 altos 2 tenors. alto #1 is an all-region jazz bari (and should make all-state) and our alto #2 is an all-region jazz runner up on tenor. Even though i am technicall tenor 1, I'm not the best tenor in the band...go figure!
p.s. Where in NE PA are you? I used to live in Waverly/Clark's Summit. Ever hear of it?

I am ~ 30 miles north in the town of Harford. My band director lives in the Clarks Summit area who teaches at the Mountain View HS in Kingsley. Why'd ya move? Sick of the rednecks?

nope...I was 5 and the family moved...lol. When we lived there, it was supposed to be the Beverly Hills of PA. I guess that's changed.
