Contemporary Music ffor StudentsHello,
I was wondering if the FOTS community could recommend some contempory pieces that are technically feasible for beginning/intermediate saxophone players. I'd like to introduce alternate techniques, graphic notation etc. to my students but the pieces I know are too technically demanding. Any suggestions for repertoire or other ways to cover contemporary music either in private lessons or small group lessons?
Thanks

Start with the Rubanks Advanced I and II method book. It has a lot of really nice arpeggios. You can usually find the Rubank series books, and others for that matter, for a couple bucks at second hand book stores.

Ronald Caravan wrote two books, Paradigms I and II (meant to be played in that order), that might offer what you want.
Check them out here:

Otherwise, I would inquire at the Classical Sax forum at Sax on the Web.
