BrilhartGreetings,
Are there any members that have experienced a Brilhart mouthpiece? I was considering of purchasing an Eboline. (Though, I would like the white Tonaline; they are quite expensive at SaxQuest and Ebay) Are they fairly reliable mouthpieces? Or is it a case of personal preference?
Thank you.
Regards,
Alexander

Hi there,
I used a Brilhart Ebolin (not Eboline) on bari many times before I started using a Yamaha 5C that comes stock with the YBS-52. It's an OK mouthpiece, maybe best go with a Beechler HR or the Tonalex is a good mouthpiece (not Tonaline ). Other HR or plastic options are Rico Graftonite, Meyer, Otto Link, and a few other good ones with recommendation.
But the Ebolin mouthpieces are not that great, more of a student model piece.

Greetings,
I appreciate your response.
Regarding the Tonalin, I was actually refering to anothe Brilhart model:
I believe these pieces are discontinued.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
Yes, those are discontinued and are similar (I believe) to the Tonalex. Not bad pieces...try one out and see what ya think!

FWIW, the Ebolin and Tonalin are physically identical, just different colors. The old ones can be excellent, as the prices suggest. However, the current Ebolins (I don't think they make the Tonalins anymore) are student mouthpieces, and don't even hold a candle to the old ones. Old ones have serial numbers, whereas new ones don't.
Here's some great info on the vintage Brilharts:

The Tonalex is a very good current model, and the Great Neck Original (made from leftover original Tonalin blanks) is also quite good, but, at least for tenor, is no longer available new.
