My current setup for alto is pretty good;
Armstrong alto Meyer 5M Vandoren ZZ 3's My tenor setup: Selmer LaVoix Otto Link STM NY 6 (modified) or Dukoff D6 Rovner Mark III for the Dukoff RJS 3M's (Otto) and Vandoren Java 3's I use bari mostly for concert band but I never said it had to be classical; Yamaha YBS-52 Dukoff D6 (do NOT use this in concert band LOL) Whatever I have LOL! There it is. Ttyl. :D |

Within the next couple of years I will be getting a Selmer Reference 54 alto sax for college and the rest of my musical life. Then of course my alto setup will change! | ||

I didn't even know that that sax in the picture was a Yamaha, I just picked it because it was the only sax pic small enough in pixels to use as an avatar. Actually, if I could get any sax that my parents could afford, I'd probably get a Keilwerth. Are you majoring in music in college? | ||

Yeppers...if I have the time and the financial aid I'd like to major in music education then major in music performance...to get two degrees and two plans down pat!

My set-up is:
Fully silver-plated King Super 20 alto JodyJazz Classic 8 Consoli Ramplig Dark ligature Alexander D.C. 3 reeds Neotech neckstrap bam softpack case IMO if your going to get a Keilwerth, get a vintage Couf. They were made by Keilwerth in the 60s-80s and they're gorgeous horns. They sound similar to the modern Keilwerths, and have the oversized bore, bell, pearls, and all that, but the new Keilwerths are way too much money for nothing new. -Bleeding Gums Murphy |

It's not that big of a deal, because today I just got three more offers for a jazz alto mpc, I just have to choose which one I want. It's gonna be hard to pick.

No it doesn't. I just got an HR Tone Edge Otto Link 7 for tenor and a Rousseau metal jazz alto piece with caps and ligs for $100! They'll work perfectly with my newly-bought Yanagisaw Elimona. :D |

Yanagisawa "Martin" Pro Level 880 Selmer C* Mouthpiece w/ stock lig La Voz Medium Hard reed I used to play Yamaha YBS-52 Selmer C* Mouthpiece w/ stock lig La Voz Medium reed But since I got my Yanni, I haven't touched a Yamaha. I still play on the school's Conn for marching, so to not damage my Yanni. |

I'm not playing tenor anymore, because I had to replace it with an alto (you can't play lead alto on a tenor!), but it was a Yamaha YTS-23. Tenney Custom Select rubber Link 7 with La Voz MH reeds, or an older blue, refaced Vandoren Jumbo Java T97 with Rico Royal 2.5 reeds, sanded down. Generic lacquered lig on both. Alto: Antigua 520LQ(?)--it's a rental, since I need to buy a new flute more than a new sax, but I'm hoping to get a better alto by summer. Runyon Custom 7 for lead playing, and I sometimes use Meyer 7M small chamber for quiter settings. Rousseau NC5 for classical. La Voz MH reeds on all three. Stock lig or Rovner Dark on Meyer, Rovner Dark on Runyon and Rousseau Soprano: Antigua 586LQ--great horn, especially when you consider the price. Runyon Custom 7 with Rico Royal 3 reeds and the stock lig (which sucks, so I'm looking for a better one--I'll probably end up using a Rovner) or Morgan 6J with Rico Royal 3 reeds and Rovner Light |
