How do we get more "regular members" to post at th

I've been coming here for a few months and always hope to see this forum become as well attended as Sax on the Web. But almost every time I get on I find I'm the only one looking at the site!

Any ideas about how to attract other players?
JPSaxMan

Well...

As far as I know we're in the top rankings on Google...so it's not like we go un-noticed. We get tons of guest visits each day; at least that I see. I think some odd 60 members or so that registered here don't even have one post Shocked...so, I don't know. If we can get anything worthwhile, I'll bring it up to the administration so we can take action. Thanks Greg! Very Happy

This si a topic that seems older than time, and the only practical answer to it is to have patience. This is not a problem that can be solved easily as you cannot force people to do something. All we need is time.

I agree. Time is the key! Let's keep this going and come up with some interesting topics that will spur visitors to join in and comment! You've got a great site here, I'll be a loyal member!

i think a good thing would be to throw some members away who don't come online for 2 month or what so that we are less crouded.
like you are looking in the members list you imediatly find the person you look for and there would be some more advanteges.

Hmmm, we actually thought about this before (called member prunning), but the advantages were not enough to delete member accounts. Besides, some people just look, not post.

And by deleting member accounts also might send a message of a type of dictatorship and well, we really don't want that. Cool

Suggestion...

Well, to be honest the reason I don't post much is because I don't have a sax, can't really afford one and don't currently have time to do the research to get a decent bari for under 2k.

If I did have a sax, I'd probably be asking all sorts of questions about reeds and mouthpieces and repairs...

That's probably true for most of the looky-Lous. So, if you really want more members posting, you should make a concerted (hehe) effort to post really sweet saxophone deals whenever you see them. More people will get saxes, more people will have questions about saxes, and more people will post.

Neh? =)

This has been brought up in the past. It is unfortunate, but there is sadly nothing we can do. I don't want to spam any members begging them to come to tje forum.
One thing we could do is set up some sort of "monthly newletter" which I e-mail to all of the members monthly. In it we would include forum info, et cetera, and would therefore be subtly reminding members of this forum's existence.
I've added some new goodies which might help bring in more members, and if not, at least the active members can enjoy it. Smile

Good idea for the newsletter!

The one year anniversity email got me back today. I think a monthly spam is not a bad idea. I'd sign up!
CMelodyMan

What should I say in the newsletter?
GAS_Wyoming

I think
>highlight of some of the more interesting posts
>Things going on in the sax world (New horns, Master Classes)
>spotlight one member a month - a sort-of 'let's get to know you' thing
>cool sax photo of the month
etc.
CMelodyMan

Sounds good. I did some of those things in the newsletter I use to send out. I'll make a newsletter tomorrow and send it out on the 5th of every month. Cool
