Platinum plating?You know how there's gold plating, silver plating, etc, has anyone here ever heard of platinum plating?

I've never heard of it, probably to expensive/heavy to be practical. Sounds like something LA Sax would do...

the reason i'm asking is becasuse my brother said that Yamaha made a platinum plated trumpet for $125,000. He told me that the good thing about platinum is that it is stronger and harder than eith brass or gold. It also doesn't oxidize. :smile:

Hmmm, I haven't heard of it, but i'm not a real big trumpet guy. Yes, almost anything is more durable than gold and brass. They're both very maleable.
