SR Tech LegendThis afternoon, my alto SR Tech Legend L-85 arrived. What a mouthpiece! It has a bright, full tone, with plenty of volume, and some edge when I want it, but it's also extremely flexible, and playing pp down low is no problem. Except for pure curiosity, I can finally say I have no reason to try another mouthpiece. The long facing felt a little weird at first, but after I played it for about half an hour, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I got mine used, but even at the WWBW price of $200, these pieces are definitely worth the money. Those of you looking for an amazing alto mouthpiece with a sort of Phil Woods vibe (at least for me), check this one out. They have a .078" tip, or you can get the L-85, like I did, which measures .085". Mine is this awesome-looking transluscent polycarbonate material, and they also sell them in hard rubber for a little bit more. I'll post an update after I try it at my lead alto gig tomorrow afternoon.

I'll try to make you a clip Monday-ish (no school for us that day). A little while ago, I made clips of three different mouthpieces, and even though they sound totally different in person, they were nearly identical on the recording. I'll give it a shot, though.

I forgot to save it after I made it, and I haven't had time to re-make it since then. I'll try to do it tomorrow.
