the sideways S

Alright. My band director explained this to one of my friends. I wasn't paying very much attention to what he said, though.

How do you play the sideways S? It's in a solo I'm doing, and it sounds better with it than without it.

Thanks much.

I believe it's called a flip/turn. The turn starts on the note above the notate note, then it comes down to the notated note, then a whole step down, then back up to it.

So if the turned note was B then you'd play, C -> B -> A -> B
