Tips on bassoon embochere

I'm thinking about learning the bassoon. Does anyone have any tips on improving your bassoon embochere?

When you go to put your head between your legs and start to kiss your arse good-bye, there's a good embouchure Laughing Laughing

I really have no clue, but I do know that with an oboe embouchure you're supposed to do an almost 'ooo' embouchure, similar to the sax, but wrap your lip around the reed...I think, watched my director do it once. And assuming that both are double-reed instruments, that'd be a safe piece of advice. Cool

Bassoon Embouchre

You put the reed between your lips, but when you get higher tongue the notes. Also, don't 'bite' the reed by putting your teeth together. Instead put more reed in your mouth( even if you have to get to the first staple) and exert (put) more air into the reed.Good luck!

Bassoon Embouchre

If you can find a bassoon mouthpiece playng would be just like sax. Sadly there are only a few in the world. Oh yeah there are also oboe mpieces( aboutthe size of a soprano sax.) They wre used I guess during some of the wars.

Mouthpieces on a double reed instrument? What? You lost me. Please clarify! Confused

mpieces

Okay during the Civil War or something bassoonists and oboists had mouthpieces that are similar to sax. You can sometimes find them on Ebay. If anyone wants to see a pic,let me know and I'll try to find one. But they do exist!

Bassoon mpieces

JPSaxMan, if you go to Google click on Images and type in bassoon mouthpieces. They are still being made today as well as a long time ago. I only did this for the bassoon, but you can type in oboe mpiece and hopefully see one. Good luck!

Ok, I play oboe (but never tried bassoon). Anyhoo, I would assume that the mouth position is about the same just larger on the bassoon. :D I was taught that you say eee (paying attention to the corners of your mouth but don't smile!!!) while in the eee position keeping your corners say ooo (as if watching fire works and you are saying ooo aaa do you get it?). Place the reed (or if you don't have a reed a flattened straw will do) on the bottom lip (just the tip) and roll in.Then while in that position your lips should be over your teeth on the top and bottom and voila'! you have an oboe/bassoon mouth position! If you have any more questions just IM PM or email me. I am glad to help. :P
