Usergroups

Hello (Dave),
I was wondering if we could orchestrate some new usergroups for the players of the different sized saxes. Tenor, alto, etc. I just feel like we are not utilizing this convenient feature to find people interested in the same things.

Sure! I think it's a great idea. If you want a group created, then just PM me or JPSaxMan with the details.

I voted no because usergroups on a forum mean individuals have rights/denied rights to different forums, topics, etc...and why have them based upon saxophone preference? And besides...I can't choose my favorite Razz
Bariman

These would be open groups that would simply be a list of people that are interested in 'majoring' in the same sax size. Not special access forums per se, just a way to find like-minded saxophonists.

Why though? Then some people's advice might not be VALUED as much as anothers. And like JP said, I can't decide what sax to choose.
Bariman

Wouldn't you want the advice of a fellow altoist over the advice of a baritonist? I know I would. As far as which sax group, you could belong to one or more groups. It's just kind of a directory of saxophonists.

Well Bariman,

I can give advice on alto, tenor, or bari (and I mean solid advice), so unless people are defined as specific "baritonists" or "tenorists", there's no real need....sorta understand where I'm goin? Mr. Green
JPSaxMan

Then again...

Maybe we can have usergroups and if you apply for more than one of the categories, we can accomodate to that. Sounds good to me...so maybe I'll change my vote to yes...whadaya think Bariman? Question
JPSaxMan

OK guys, here's what's gonna happen.

There will be a new category added for these separate groups. There will be four forums; soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. If CMel wants to add more later he will, but for now, the big four. You will have to look at the menu option "Usergroups" in the top part of your screen to find your usergroup and subscribe. If you are a true altoist and tenorist and want to be in both, by all means, join both. But you MUST be fluent in both otherwise you will be removed from the group. I.E., I will not join soprano because I've never played one period.

I will make the leaders of the groups according to who joins first and if you have the credentials...if you seem feasible as a leader.

Now if CMel doesn't want this, it won't be, but I'm getting the ball rolling Cool

The usergroups/forums are now up and running. Now again, here's what must be done.

First, go to the "Usergroups" option in the upper level of your screen. You should then be able to join the group(s) according to your repeitore. If you find that you are not eligible for a forum, you may unsubscribe at any time.

Then you should see the forums that are usergroup specific to what you subscribed to. At this point you are clear sailing, start posting, and stay on topic. Alto topics are not permitted in baritone forum.

One more thing, you MUST join the usergroup to see the forum. Any problems please contact me or Dave...thank you folks Cool

Looks good! Lets see how it goes, and kind of play things by ear. Good work though, Joel.
