Perhaps Great Expectations by Charles Dickens thats deffo up there and the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

I also liked the Left Behind books. It really helped me to break apart Revelation, make it easier to digest.
Anyway, my favorite was Guns, Germs and Steel. Genius idea.
