I would say I am "strict jazz", despite the fact that I do play classical from time to time.

I play classical music in quartets and recitals, but I play jazz in big bands and jazz combos. I'm a little more trained in classical, but I enjoy playing jazz just as much, if not more.

As some of you may know, I'm a flutist, and plan to major in flute performance in college; most of my formal training has been in classical music. However, I also study sax privately, and I am planning to continue to study sax in college and beyond, as I would like to play jazz and classical gigs on both sax and flute. So, I'll put myself in the Branford category.

At least he (^) had enough guts to put himself there and not the other mixed category

I'm a jazz player, but I've had my roots in classical. However, I'd say I am defined jazz-wise. So, I'll go with mixture, but that's not quite accurate.

as for me...I put myself in the strict jazz because I play mainly jazz standards and rock 'n' roll, which wasn't in the choices, so...
There ya have it...

I'm blues player, give it a few years I might become a jazzer- but there's plenty to get my teeth into in the blues idiom first.
