why are alto, tenor, and bari saxes curved, but soprano's not ??: ??

A curved soprano has very cramped keywork, and it is easier to manufacturer a staright horn.

Very true. The sound achieved on a curvy is much sweeter, while a straight horn usually yields a more brighter and edgier tone.

Yea, if you listen to Dave Koz, he plays on both a straight (Yamaha YSS-62 silver) and a curved (Conn 1912 I think) soprano, and I can hear the difference between the two!  _________________ JP
