Hi all,
For a beginner, would it be better to buy a new sax or a second hand one? Around how much money am I looking at for a brand new one?
Thanks

Personally, I would say it's like a car: buy used whenever possible. As long as the horn is not in shambles, and you've checked it, or had a tech/other saxophonist check it, it should be fine. Don't be lured into buying a real piece of crap from eBay or something, they look good, but they're not worth it.
As for price, that also depends on quality. Some really great horns are under $1000. Check out Dave Kessler's horns (I assume alto), he has some great deals, and they will come expertly set up.
