Do you have to make me choose?
I just got done playing mine (my school's) bari. There is something mystical about the (that) bari. The low notes on it just scream "ROAR"!!!!!
I like the tenor for it's mellow droned out sound. Throaty in the upper range too.
Alto is a favorite because when I wanna go higher than the tenor I can.
Have yet to play a soprano... So can't answer that. _________________ JP

You're right that was a dumb question. How can someone favor one sax over the other? |

Oh you'd be surprised.
My director hates the alto and loves the tenor and is ok on the bari. But he strongly dislikes the alto with a passion. So no, it wasn't a dumb question, just that people like me can't choose. _________________ JP

Eh, somewhat.
He's actually a clarinet player (majored in college on clarinet) but picked up the tenor in his freshmen year in HS for his school's jazz band. I've played his too...Selmer vintage Super Action 80 _________________ JP

Hmm... probably alto, because it's my principal instrument, or bari, 'cause it's just so dang cool to me! :P _________________

Yoshi I think we were looking for more of a sound-based type answer as opposed to which sax for passage usage. If you like one because the music written for it is easier you got problems _________________ JP

Oh all right...
In that case I agree. I play bari in our concert band and the music in general is just SO easy! Yet people at playing exam time flunk it...amazingly how is beyond me. _________________ JP
