If you could have one sax, what would it be, and why? Please be specific, say the laquer, plating, etc, that would be on the sax too.

Selmer Serie III soprano, black lacquer, with some type of jazz mouthpiece (like a Dukoff or Beechler, Berg Larsen, whatever fit Cool). Twisted Evil

That pretty much sums up my dream saxophone - except I'd go for an alto. Although, my current saxophone, a Serie II alto w/ clear lacquer, is far closer to that dream then I ever thought I'd be! Cool

Hey JPSaxMan and Thomas: you both said Selmer Series III soprano. Out of ignorance and curiosity I like to know why you both made that choice. Part of the reason I am so curious is that I am in the market for another soprano so am keen to hear your take on the Selmer Series III.

Any insights?

Well I said it because I a) want a soprano, b) am a Selmer nut and c) really like the features of the Serie III. Look them up on Selmer's website and you'll see what I mean. Now if I try one or two Serie III's (at USA Horn in Jersey, where I'm intending on going) and don't like them, you bet I'll try the Serie II or even venture into Yamaha territory. I'm getting the black lacquer version because I like it's looks plus I'm going for a darker warmer sound (image a dark mysterious soprano in a jazz ballad... Mr. Green ).

Those are my thoughts. Hope ya liked em! Cool

Selmer Mark VI or King Super 20.. Black nickel, unlacquered patina keys, engraving over the whole. PLASTIC Resos (Just to make JP mad). Some type of special pearls (similar to what Cannonball has) on all keytouches (Typewriter-ish) Underslug octave, Otto Link or Dukoff mouthpiece, Rovner Dark lig, and Vandoren 3's.

Dreams, dreams, dreams.

88,

Check out the Selmer forum. I made a ginormous post about my Serie II, and there are a few others about the differences between the Serie II and III.
