It is normally very close to the roof of the mouth and the upper side of the tongue (just behind the tip) is making the motions which indent the airstream to make the flutter sound. And you can do this with a small amount of m/p in the mouth. Again, it can take time to get the feel that works best for you. | So I'm not even supposed to roll my R's onto the mpc, if you know whatr I mean. I'm supposed to just hit the tip of the mpc with the upper sideof my tongue every once in a while?

No, you never touch the m/p with the tongue because that will close the reed. I guess you can call it rolling the R's but I usually think in terms of making a cat purr type of sound.
Try this. Touch the roof of the mouth with the tip of the tongue. Do not press or force the tongue against the roof. Exhale and try to get the purr sound w/o the m/p. When you get that sound you can trasfer it to the m/p. |

I make a external snore type sound insted of rolling my r's, (which I can't do)
It's called uvular flutter tounging, and flutes and sax's can do it. _________________ Music IS Life

Thank you for the tips, John...you have been very helpful in helping me understand fluttertongunig. I can now do it for up to 5 seconds at a time!
