Okay so as you can tell by the name I'm not a sax person persay. I have a dozen and one sax friends and I mean come on horn and sax players should have really good relationships, but I digress. Okay so a friend of mine bought a Bundy-Selmer alto sax ( I think) and he's clueless as to how to care for it, if he should attempt to recork it, and how to clean it most importantly. I've yet to see the condition of this horn but from what I've been told it has a few cosmetic problems and I told him to think about getting it dipped and relaquered (spelling?), since I'm not really versed in sax I didn't know what all to tell him and I haven't had any training on the sax as of right now. So just any help or information would be really helpful. I have the model number too if that's of any use. Please help I'd really appreciate any little thing you could do or say. Thanks--horn flunky

Never spend money on a Bundy except for minor repairs (screws, straightening rods, sticky keys, etc.). I guess I'd recork one if necessary. Hopefully it's not...new corks suck. :p
Care is pretty basic. You want to use a polishing cloth (they actually make special ones, but a good old soft cloth will do) so it doesn't look horrible and get filthy and whatnot. :p You want to swab out the inside (including where the neckpiece is joined) every now and then so it doesn't smell horrible and so the neck fits in cleanly, and you want to keep the keys from getting sticky, so it plays (can pretty much ignore this until they get sticky :p). |

Agree with reisio. For the cost of the cosmetic issues and all the other "issues", a whole other horn BETTER than the Bundy can be bought. _________________ JP
