Bent octave key

My friend accidentally bent the top part of his octave key. Should he take it to the tech or fix it himself? The damage is pretty simple.

If he feels up to it, remove the octave key completely and bend it to the appropriate shape. It might take some time of taking it on and off to get a good seal again.

if it's not a professional horn, it's probably fine to do it yourself
