Louis, to answer your question, if you look at other free forum systems they tend to devote a lot more space to the advertising than MFF.
They need to earn money on adverts to keep the system running fast, and so are experimenting with different ideas.
Fortunately the in posts ads only show about 30% of the time and take less space.
This may seem bad, but if you compare it to the other advert ways of earning finanicing MFF:
- Casinos
- Pornography
- Click pasts - ads which take the whole page, and you click to get to the content.
- Pop ups
- Pop unders
- Simply showing more and bigger adverts.
It really doesn't seem that bad. And some of the ads aren't two bad. I just saw an ad a few minutes ago in one of the posts that was for WWBW. And don't be shy about clicking on the ads, as it benefits this forum. But do not ads unless you are interested, as this is defrauding advertisers. But, as I stated before, there are some good ads in there such as the WWBW one, so clicking on one of those wouldn't hurt. The only really bad thing about the ads is their "in your face" kind of presence. _________________

The money goes towards faster servers, fulltime employees working on improving the system, etc. As of now MFF is not gaining anything from this, and as of now they are actually losing money because of how little the ads are making, although they are part of MarsJupiter limited which has the income to spare to keep myfreeforum.org going, and has a very strong ethical track record so there there is no question of MFF pulling the plug

Good to hear this board won't go out of business.
I have to admit I have ignored the ads too...
