Has anyone ever played, or seen/heard a soprillo played? If so, tell us what it was like.
For those of you who haven't heard or seen one, check these out:

I bought a soprillo during last summer...it's a riot to play, and being in Bb, I can play tunes in the keys that I learned them in--being a soprano, and tenor player mainly.
I perform in three groups--one is a rock band, and I play about 7 saxes or so. Then in two big bands...one on lead alto, and the other on lead tenor...
I own and play about 90 horns total...but my saxes are as follows:
Soprillo - Eppelsheim
Sopraninos - Mason(straight), Orsi(curved)
Sopranos - Selmer (st.), Schill (curved)
Altos - Selmer (curv.), LA Sax (st.)
Mezzo Sop (curv.) - Conn {LOOKING FOR A CONN-O-SAX!!)
Tenor - Selmer (curv.), LA Sax (st.)
Bari - Selmer (curv. w/ low A)
Bass - (curv.) Buescher
One day maybe I'll get a tubax (or lower!)
I've tried playing a typical big band chart with 2 sopraninos, 2 sopranos and an alto--taking the sax section up an octave with pretty good results...
I'm planning on trying a soprillo in the mix..but have to figure out a voicing that would be pleasant to listen to...
Back to the woodshed!!
