Some of mine I like. Miles Osland has some pretty good ones too...well they're not solos but they're solos with accompainment. Can't think of any right at the moment _________________ JP

| I'm a Sonny Rollins fanatic; so my favorite solo is his solo on Four (alternate take) from his album "Now's the Time". My other favorite has to be Coltrane's Solo on Blue Train from his album "Blue Train" |

I love Ronnie Cuber's bari sax solo on the Mingus piece "Moanin". I want to play that song just because of that solo.
And of course, you've got to go with the greatest sax soloist, Charlie Parker. Anybody else thinking the solo break on "A Night in Tunisia"? I heard somewhere that authorities consider that the greatest solo break of all time. _________________ NEW SAXOPHONE!!!
Yanagisawa Martin Pro Level Bari with Low A range. It's so sweet! High notes are clear, and I still get my Low A!

| How about Brecker on "Talking to myself" from "Don't try this at home"? There is just about everything in that solo. |

In terms of sheer technical prowess, I love Chris Potter's intro to "Children Go," especially at about 0:08. _________________ My sound clips. |

Ok, time to jump in and get my feet wet.
Someone might know his name but on Maynard Ferguson's "Live at Jimmy's" album there is an awesome solo in MacArthur Park. Read the Boots Randolph reply. I hadn't thought or listened to him in years, used to watch Hee-Haw just to see him...lol A great forum guys, glad to be getting back into the game. |
