I dont hear very much about C-Melody horns, I just sold my Martin and picked up the Buescher, my martin had a clean crisp sound, little dark edge, I found it at a yard sale, had it rebuilt and the horn was a smoker. finish was 100% and was playable when I bought it.

The Buescher, although in excellent shape, was covered with dust, after stipping it down, and polishing it up, the horn looks like new, I am waiting on my order from musicmedic.com to arrive, so I can start the rebuild session.

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with playing C-Melody, Buescher in particular, familiar with standard pad heights,

the mpc. that came with it is in great condition, I just put on a Alto Fibracell reed med/soft, locked it down, and put in on the neck, and I can already tell the tone is darker then the martin.

any suggestions for the mod. jazz sound would really help me out right now

thanks

Sorry J, I my knowledge of C's is limited to a Holton I had once, and they are kinda in different ballparks than the Bueschers. Best of Luck,

The pad heights on C melodies are different from altos or tenors. They are also different between brands. As far as I know, there aren't any written specs for the C. What I do is fine tune each note as I regulate it.

I just finished a minty Holton with WHITE Roo pads and all the corks were almost non-existent. Turned out great!

For the jazz sound, the never-ending mp search is on.

Let me know if you want me to do the regulation for you.

Yours in CHRIST,
Doc
