What are the various models and prices of the Selmer brand Baritone saxes. Does anyone own any of these that could comment on the quality of sound and whether or not it would be good for Jazz music?

The only avaliable modern Selmer bari is the Super Action 80 Serie II (a Serie III isn't due for another couple of years) and the average price (like on WWBW or whatever) usually is like $6,000-$7,000.
Some vintage Selmer's include the Mark VI, Super Balanced Action, and several others that easily run from $5,000 and on up.
Good luck... _________________ JP

You certainly wouldn't wanna invest in a Selmer bass then...MSRP is close to $20,000 _________________ JP

Selmer Bari's are great...just overpriced. If you're going for a bari, there are many brands out there worth less than your car!
I'd recommend looking at a Yamaha YBS-52. They're running used for around $2500 to $3000. However, THE bari for most players is the Yanagisawa. These are highly sought after and go for much less than the Selmers. _________________ Greg Smith

Darby...your figures are off base. MSRP for these bari's have to be around $10,000. So WWBW can get away with selling them for $6,000. They are very expensive.
Greg, I just made a super cool clip with my Yami 52...I'll post it in the Yami forum (or somewhere appropriate). _________________ JP
