Actually, Sibelius isn't free - far from it. That's just the demo; you can't save, some features are disabled, you can only print one page, and that page has a watermark on it. That's basically the same for the Finale demo.
Sibelius and Finale cost about the same; it's just that some people prefer one over the other. Think about it - if one developer lowered their prices, the other one would do the same, and they would just keep going at it. That's a cardinal rule of economics, my friend.

Oh I know, but the demo is a good showcase, and you can get stuff done with it.
