has anyone ever tried making up their own style? If so, have you taught anybody your style?

Heh heh. The only way to do that truly would be to never hear another saxophonist ever, and then learn on your own, and see what you come up with.

Well, I guess you could say that some people have made up their own style, such as Charlie Parker, who is widely accepted as the co founder of bebop.
